HIP FRACTURE;REVEALING A NAKED TRUTH
Hi NURSES and MEDICOS, how’s the life rolling guys??????/. For me it’s been hefty days……bird flu has catched in the malda district of the West Bengal and all. So
Beware …..Carnivores ….. Read few jottings about the HIP FRACTURE …
Hip fracture is fracture in the long bone of Femur and there are four types of hip fracture. They are 1. Femoral head fracture 2.femoral neck fracture 3. Intertrochantric fracture 4. Subtrochantric fracture.
Femoral neck fracture usually causing cut in the blood supply to the head of the femur and result in avascular necrosis.
Let us see what are the causes of the HIP Fracture>>they are 1.fall (in the case of elderly patients) 2. Weakness of the bone (osteoporosis, Paget’s disease, osteomalacia, osteogenesis imperfecta, osteopetrosis).
Disease can be easily diagnosed by the clinical presentation of pain in the leg, shortened leg, unable to bear the weight etc.
It would be confirmed once we go through the X-rays, MRI scans etc.
Rx – There are two Rx options, either we should go for replace the fractured bone with prosthesis, that is called arthroplasty or we should go for reduction by manipulating and fixing them with metal screws.
Take a pledge of completing all the assignment in the right time, and step into submitting a Care study in the next week or so ……and not for the sake of submitting …it’s ultimately helping u in the clinical………..
